Starting in January, Mr Michael Park will join our school as our new Principal. Michael has a wealth of experience, and we are really excited for the future of our school under his leadership.
Mr Park joins us as Mrs Anna Willcox departs following an excellent period as Interim Principal. We would like to thank her for providing a steady hand during this period.
We spoke to Mr Park to find out more about him and his history in education.
Starting as a year 4 teacher in Manchester, Mr Park has over 30 years of experience as a teacher across the country in Plymouth, Bath, and Wiltshire. In his most recent role, Mr Park led Princecroft Primary for ten years, improving outcomes, and leading the school to a Good Ofsted report.
In his spare-time, Mr Park, who lives locally with his two children, is a keen runner, and has had the privilege of completing both the London and New York marathon!
Asked what made him decide to take on the role at The Manor, he said: “I wanted a new challenge and when I visited The Manor I was impressed by the enthusiasm and passion of the whole school team. I want the children in The Manor to have the very best education and I hope that we can work together as a school community to make that happen.”
“It has the opportunity and potential to be a great school that provides an excellent education for the children in the Melksham community.”
Having always wanted to be a teacher, although not expecting to become a head, Mr Park enjoyed English and reading at school. Asked what advice he would give his primary-school self, he said: “There will always be challenges but with each challenge you learn something new.”
Mr Park looks forward to meeting parents, carers, and the wider community: “A school cannot work alone and it needs the support of the whole school community. I hope we can work in partnership to help give the very best education to the children at The Manor.”
