Our Year 1 and 2 class is a supportive and engaging environment where children are encouraged to develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning. We aim to provide a smooth transition from the early years into the next stages of school life, helping each child to build on their foundations and achieve their full potential.
We explore a variety of different texts in our writing and the children will experience a number of different subjects including history, geography and science! Within maths the year 1s and year 2s will still access the curriculum for their age group and learn about new manipulatives through a range of different topics including place value, addition and subtraction and properties of shapes.
In Year 1 and 2 we teach Little Wandle phonics scheme. All children will bring home a phonics levelled reading book and a reading record alongside a book for pleasure from our school library.
Our PE day is a Wednesday and we ask that children come to school in their PE kits.
